The Human Rainbow Flag

This is just one of the pictures taken at the

that this picture is the best.

Quittin' the egotrippin' - Human Rights Are My Pride

May 8th 2010 the Baltic Pride is being held in Lithuania. It is a pride celebrating diversity and especially focusing on the rights of homosexuals, bisexuals and transsexuals. The Lithuanian governments and other authorities are trying to prevent this pride parade from happening. They are doing this by, among other things, having a law which states that it is illegal to inform children of other possible sexual relations than the one between a man and a woman. This law came to effect March 1st, 2010 and using this law as an argument several Lithuanian politicians to stop the pride from happening.

The problems for this parade are the following:
- The organization arranging the pride, LGL, are having big problems getting into a dialog with the government, for them to authorize a proper route for the parade.
- The route which LGL is applying for, and are being denied them, is a route which was allowed a pro-nazi demonstration.
- The government wants LGL to be in charge of security during the parade, a task which is normally taken care of by the police.
- This is a problem due to the expectations of huge numbers of counter-demonstrants during the parade.

The list of problems continues...

Therefore Amnesty International is campaigning to create attention to the problems involved with this pride. The purpose of this campaign is convincing the Lithuanian government that the World and human rights are supporting the pride. This is done by taking pictures of different people holding miniature rainbow flags different places around the world, and by taking pictures of giant, human, rainbow flags (we did this at the school today, pictures will follow).

So at the Skream/Benga/OHOI-concert at VEGA last Friday, I had my miniature rainbow flags and my camera with me. The result is the pictures displayed randomly around this post.
