It is an odd thing, that one can find nostalgia in memories as young as 3 weeks. I am referring to Roskilde Festival. Today I saw the re-run of DR2's Theme on Roskilde 2010. And that was a tsunami of nostalgia. But something about it was unfair. The praise of the Arena Stage. Or rather the lack of praise. It was too focused around Orange. And of course the orange canopy stage is a Roskilde trademark. And of course it is on of the most massive stages around. 70000+ people at one concert is a lot. And you do get some of your most amazing experiences at Orange. But Arena has something unique, which I haven't seen/heard anywhere else, it has its clap.

The Arena Stage from inside
When hands emerge in a synchronized, rhythmic clap under that ceiling of Arena the sound is as overwhelming as nothing you can ever get near. It has a roar that reminds me of thunder when those hands of 17000 people become one with band, music and each other. I believe that every artist/group performing one Arena must feel this and be awed by the physical strength that hits them with the sound wave of the Arena Clap. It is uncanny, it is shocking, it is a symbol of joy, it is a mark of unity. It is the greatest feeling you get at Roskilde. It is the Arena Clap.
